Sue Ryder Care, Wheatfields

Both St. Gemma’s and Wheatfields Hospices have been caring for local people since 1978, providing an ever-increasing range of services for terminally-ill patients and their families, whether at home or in the hospices.

Specialised nursing and medical staff provide expertise in controlling pain and other distressing symptoms. We also offer emotional support and spiritual and social care which allows patients to live as normal a life as possible.

Our Day Hospices ensure families are given a break, while our teams of Community Nurses enable patients to be cared for at home if that is their wish. Bereavement teams give help to families and friends for as long as they need us.

To provide this level of care, the Hospices have to raise £5million annually by way of voluntary contributions from local people and organisations.
