I’m
taking part in the Leeds Hospices Midnight Walk as I have witnessed first
hand just how wonderful the work they do is. I am taking part in the walk
with my Sister who is 23 and we both recently lost our cherished Grandma
Margaret Mirfield to cancer. She died peacefully on her birthday on the
25th March in the amazing St Gemma’s Hospice. She spent four weeks here
and so we have witnessed the wonderful work they do and the amount of care
and respect they give to their patients at the end of life in particular.
Why

THE
ANNUAL RUNNING COSTS OF ST GEMMA'S HOSPICE ARE OVER £6.5 MILLION, MORE
THAN HALF OF WHICH MUST BE RAISED FROM DONATIONS AND FUNDRAISING
INITIATIVES.
St
Gemma's Hospice would not be able to care for local people with life
threatening illnesses and give the specialist palliative care needed
without the valuable and ongoing support of the community. Their
dedication and aim to give every patient a comfortable and peaceful end
could not be fulfilled without events like this.
